Using primary data collected from smallholder groundnut farming households in Lilongwe and Kasungu Agricultural Development Divisions, the study analyses the types of varieties planted, sources of the seed planted, quantity of seed planted per acre compared to production guidelines, and the challenges faced by farmers during production. The study also presents results from a seed choice experiment, highlighting smallholder farmer preferences for seed. The study findings are useful for the development of Malawi’s groundnut value chain.
